Waimea File Renamer
Waimea File Renamer is a powerful tool to rename files in batch processing. You may define rules which will be applied seqentially to every single file name. You can define a name filter if not all files of a directory are to be processed.
You get a preview of all new filenames. Only if you confirm the preview, the rename proces will be started.
Waimea File Renamer allows you to modify existing names or to construct completely new names based on one of the selectable order criteria.
Waimea File Renamer is available in German and English.

Use cases
Use photo exposure time in filename
Most photo cameras enumerate pictures subsequently, like:
IMG_0001.JPG
IMG_0002.JPG
Using a rule which transfers the exposure time to file name the pictures may be renamed as:
2011-12-01 - 10-55-56 - Picture 0001.jpg
2011-12-01 - 11-20-00 - Picture 0002.jpg
This helps merging pictures of two or more cameres into one show.

Delete part of name
Software which converts audio CDs to MP3 files often results file names like:
Abba - The Best Of - 01 - Waterloo.mp3
Abba - The Best Of - 02 - Super Trooper.mp3
Using a rule, which removes a fix name part at start of name, those files may be easily renamed to:
01 - Waterloo.mp3
02 - Super Trooper.mp3
and stored to a folder Abba afterwards.

Renumber enumeration
If file names already contain an enumeration:
Picture 1279.jpg
Photo 1381.jpg
Image 1421.jpg
this enumeration may be renumbered without changing the remaining part of the file name:
Bild 1000.jpg
Foto 1010.jpg
Image 1020.jpg
In this case the enumeration starts with the initial value of 1000 and has a step range of 10.

Renumber enumeration
An existing enumeration may be renumbered. The number of digits, the initial value and the step range may be defined by the user.
The recognition of the existing enumeration may be defined by a search pattern or by a subsequent number of digits.

Setup new name
If you do not want to use any part of the old file name, the name may be setup completely new.
In this case any varying part, such as an enumeration or a time stamp must be used to create the new name to make filenames unique.
